Friday November 16, 2001- Jumpstart, lunch, then to Aaron’s. dinner at Rhona’s–nori cooking some excellent Japanese dishes.
Saturday November 17, 2001-breakfast at Martha’s then 9am bus with Susanne, James bus to Hopkins junction; walking in, then Placencia bus took us the rest of the way. Fun time partying at “skot”‘s place. His cozy beach house, making me jealous. Good fire on the beach. night filled with rum drinks, listening to the crashing waves.

sunday, November 18, 2001- After a lazy morning of coffee and pancakes, we hitched out to ‘Griga. Dangriga. Big bunch of PCVs. Liz’s, then Jess’s. Pelican for happy hour which was packed. A practical joke that didn’t work: John, Matt, kenneth, Erica and Sheela were swimming off the dock, so we stole their clothes. Ken’s ring was lost and tension resulted. [the next morning, equipped with a dive mask, Ken found his ring, minutes after my prayer.] Walked the strip, drumming, lots of people. A midnight veg sandwich. Sleep early.
Monday, November 19, 2001- Garifuna settlement day- woke early brewed coffee. Jess’s house; playing cards. 2:30 bus was a no-go, so we ended up hitching to the Texaco (half-way to 6-mile junction) and found a pick-up going all the way to Cayo. An entertaining ride up the hummingbird highway with Mick’s dog D blowing drool all over us. Arrived in Cayo by 5. Pizza at Martha’s and by 7, I was in bed after a hot, hot shower.
Tuesday, November 20, 2001- This morning, out of bed begrudgingly, but Jumpstart was cancelled because of food poisoning (Ellen called on Rex’s phone) ..so coffee bean to e-mail but BTL probs so no internet. Went to Eva’s instead until the 3:15 bus. Reading a lot, sleepy in San Antonio. All packed and ready for my journey to Belize City tomorrow.
